Cesc Fabregas isn’t exactly short on silverware, but the Chelsea midfielder can now boast that he has a Guinness World Record to add to his C.V.

Indeed, Fabregas is now the official holder of the record for achieving 100 assists in the Premier League in the shortest amount of time — thus earning himself a place in the 2019 Guinness World Records (GWR) annual.

Fabregas managed the feat in just 293 matches, some 74 fewer appearances than the previous record holder, Ryan Giggs (367 matches).

“I’m not the fastest, I’m not the strongest, I’m not the most flexible, I don’t jump high,” Fabregas told GWR. “But to achieve this record in my career is one of the proudest things in my job, because it is my job and I did it well.”

The record-breaking assist came in 2016, when the Blues star laid on Willian to score their side’s second goal in a 4-2 win over Stoke at Stamford Bridge.

Discussing his playmaking talents, the 31-year-old credited his schooling with the youth teams at Barcelona and getting to train alongside some truly great players during his time at Arsenal.

“In the middle of training, I’d just had my mouth open. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing,” he said. “The first touches of Dennis Bergkamp, the finishing of Thierry Henry, the presence of Patrick Vieira, I was very fortunate.”

Not content with just the one world record, Fabregas can actually claim two entries in the 2019 annual, having set a new marker for the most complete volley passes in 30 seconds by a pair – 15 passes – which he set with Jamie Redknapp during a segment on Sky’s “A League Of Their Own” show.

It might not eclipse the World Cup he won in 2010, but still, you can’t argue with the sheer weight of numbers and accolades being claimed here.
